Emergency Hormonal Contraceptive Service – Rotherham
Reminder to Pharmacies
The NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS) has now expanded to include the provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC). As a result, local commissioners will begin decommissioning existing locally commissioned EHC services.
To ensure there is no gap in service provision, there will be a period of overlap between the two services.
Pharmacy teams are reminded to:
-Use the correct PGD for the service being provided.
-Submit claims under the correct service, as both services may still appear on your pharmacy’s IT system.
-Avoid duplicate claims — do not claim for both services for the same consultation.
CPSY will continue to work closely with local commissioners to ensure contractors are informed when the local EHC service is officially decommissioned.
Please look out for updates in our newsletter for further information.
