Online Training
A training package has been developed for pharmacies that currently provide, or are interested in starting to provide, naloxone services. It can be accessed via the Waythrough website (link below).
Users are encouraged to review the website carefully and select the appropriate training option. Whether learning from videos on how to provide Take Home Naloxone (THN) and the Emergency Naloxone Administration Programme (ENAP), or using presentations to train other team members, it is essential that the quiz* is completed by every individual undergoing training.
This training package can also be used for the annual refresher training.
For any questions or additional support, please contact Barbara Zub, National Pharmacy Technician for Waythrough – Barbara.Zub@waythrough.org.uk
*Please note: The quiz scoring matrix is currently under development. In the meantime, participants will be contacted if a 100% score is not achieved.
Stock Availability
Waythrough has been informed of a potential shortage of Nyxoid® intranasal spray, a first line product of choice for both Emergency Naloxone Administration (ENAP) and Take Home Naloxone (THN) services. To address this, pharmacies are being notified about an alternative, Naloxone 1.26mg nasal spray (pebble), which can be used if Nyxoid® is unavailable. Prenoxad injection remains fully available and should be prioritised for THN services. This update is included in the letter below, which also serves as a revision to the Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Current providers have been contacted directly by Waythrough with a request to acknowledge receipt of this variation by contacting Barbara.Zub@waythrough.org.uk
