‘PharmacyFirst’ Minor Ailments Service
Service Overview
The ‘PharmacyFirst’ Minor Ailments Service provides a convenient first point of contact for patients with minor health concerns. The pharmacy team will assess symptoms, offer expert advice, and supply printed self-care information. For a defined list of minor ailments, suitable treatment may be recommended without the need to see a GP. Medications will be provided free of charge to patients exempt from prescription charges. Those who usually pay for prescriptions will be encouraged to purchase the necessary medicines, which are often cheaper than the standard NHS charge. Pharmacies can also over label OTC medicines when requested.
