Service Overview

Patients started on pharmacotherapy in hospital, will be referred via PharmOutcomes to a participating Pharmacy for continuing supply of varenicline and/or NRT products.

All the Pharmacy needs to do is accept a referral, supply the product and record the supply on PharmOutcomes.

Additional Information 

To deliver the scheme:

  • Pharmacists working in the pharmacy need to complete a declaration of competence to supply Varenicline and sign the PGD and they have Managers authorisation (usually from the Superintendent Pharmacist) for supplying against the PGD.  NB: PGD will be sent to pharmacies who have returned the completed Appendix two to their CCG.
  • At least one member of the Pharmacy Team must have attended an awareness session (or have watched a recording of one of the sessions).  Link to recording: https://youtu.be/N-zqNnlaewU
