Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) ophthalmology outpatient clinic
From Monday 17th November 2025, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) ophthalmology outpatient clinics will move from the main hospital site to the Alhambra Shopping Centre, Cheapside, Barnsley, S70 1SB. This move is part of a project called ‘Health On The Highstreet’ which will potentially see additional outpatient services like rheumatology and dermatology moving in the coming year.
Patients reviewed in the Alhambra Clinic as part of their consultation may undergo procedures or receive treatments as part of their appointment. After their appointment they may require medicines for ongoing treatment of their condition. Some patients will have these medicines supplied as pre-packs from the clinic and some medicines will be prescribed on paper FP10s by registered prescribers in clinic. We do not have access to EPS at this time, but are continuing to work towards being able to use this system in the future. Patients will be informed that they can take these green FP10 prescriptions to the pharmacy of their choice. Information about the patient’s appointment and any ongoing requirements will be shared with the patient’s GP in the standard way.
If a community pharmacy receives a prescription and you wish to query anything as part of your clinical verification please ring the Ophthalmology Clinic Triage Nurse on 01226 437110, a member of staff will be able to co-ordinate your query to the relevant prescriber or other member of staff.
If you have any more general feedback on how we may improve the system in the coming months please email – bdg-tr.PharmacyADMINBHNFT@nhs.net
