National Pharmacy Services
National pharmacy services are divided into three categories under the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) — Essential Services, Advanced Services, and Enhanced Services. Each category plays a key role in supporting patient care and improving access to NHS pharmacy services.
Essential services are those provided by all community pharmacies under the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF), also known as the pharmacy contract. You can find detailed information and guidance on Essential Services on the Community Pharmacy England website here Locally produced guidance and important reminders can be found below. Advanced Services are optional services that community pharmacies can choose to provide under the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) — also known as the pharmacy contract. There are currently nine Advanced Services, each designed to support patient care and enhance the role of community pharmacy within the NHS. Pharmacy owners may offer any of these services provided they meet the requirements set out in the Secretary of State Directions. You can find detailed information and guidance on Advanced Services on the Community Pharmacy England website here. Locally produced guidance and important reminders can be found below. National Enhanced Services are additional services commissioned nationally to support patient care and improve access through community pharmacies. These services go beyond the Essential and Advanced Services outlined in the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) and are designed to meet specific health needs identified at a national level. You can find detailed information and guidance on National Enhanced Services on the Community Pharmacy England website here Locally produced guidance and important reminders can be found below. For community pharmacies that are signed up to deliver the Spring/Summer 2026 vaccination programme, the option to additionally apply for off-site premises delivery is available via an online form monitored by the regional NHSE team. To consider any request for off-site vaccinations, the North East and Yorkshire regional NHSE team require completion of this form: This process is only for off-site request. If a pharmacy is indicating that they are willing to vaccinate in care homes and housebound patients they can only do so at the request of the commissioner. Following submission of your form, pharmacies will receive an e-mail notification of the outcome of this process. Submission of this form does not automatically mean approval of the request(s) has been given and no activity should be delivered off site without email approval from the NHS England regional team. Please note that where a request to deliver off-site results in a requirement for an increased vaccine supply, the regional team are unable to guarantee that a supply will be provided before activity is delivered if late requests are received. Please also note that we cannot guarantee NBS access if this is required to support off-site provision. Please send in requests for off-site activity as soon as possible to allow sufficient time for support. Please note, this process is in place for Spring 26 Covid Vaccination Programme. Any approval will only apply for the COVID-19 vaccination spring programme 2026 and will need reviewing for the Autumn Winter 2026/7 COVID-19 and flu vaccination programme.Flu Vaccination Service
