National Pharmacy Services

National pharmacy services are divided into three categories under the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF)Essential Services, Advanced Services, and Enhanced Services. Each category plays a key role in supporting patient care and improving access to NHS pharmacy services.

Essential Services

Essential services are those provided by all community pharmacies under the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF), also known as the pharmacy contract.

Advanced Services

Advanced Services are optional services that community pharmacies can choose to provide under the NHS Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) — also known as the pharmacy contract. There are currently nine Advanced Services, each designed to support patient care and enhance the role of community pharmacy within the NHS.

Pharmacy owners may offer any of these services provided they meet the requirements set out in the Secretary of State Directions.
